The Guidance Center 2011 Gala Keynote Speaker

On Thursday, April 7th, The Guidance Center held its 8th annual Celebrating Families Gala at The Charles Hotel in Cambridge. Through live and silent auctions, sponsorships and ticket sales, the event raised over $227,000 for children and families in Cambridge and Somerville! This year's "Carnival" theme definitely added a fun flavor to the evening's festivities.

Attendees enjoyed an insightful talk by keynote speaker Dr. David Blumenthal, former National Coordinator for Health Information Technology at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Dinner was followed by rousing remarks from The Guidance Center Boys Group members, 15-year-old Tarell Tondreau , 14-year-old Tremayne Constantine and 15-year-old Jacorey McCall, who spoke about their experience growing up as adolescent males in Cambridge and the challenges they have faced.
