157 Riverside Avenue- Lyrics:

Well we flew into town on a Sunday,
had to find a place by Monday
Tried Bridgeport, then Westport, 'til we found a place that we thought would do.
157 on Riverside Avenue.

Well th' Saugatuck River's flowin',
Mother nature's colors were showin'
So cold, so rainy,
we couldn't help but feelin' blue.
Not enough time, and too many things to do. So we just sat back and played some.

I walked by a young girl on Main Street, wanted to pass her by.
She was homely, we were lonely,
She said, "Can I make love to you?"
I said 157 on Riverside Avenue.

And she talked like a guitar, she said...
...a lil fast talkin' one...

Well it's over, Miss Lena, we're leaving.
Such a pleasant stay, I must say.
So nice, so easy, well I hate to say goodbye to you
at 157 on Riverside Avenue. Hey

  • I have this album hidden away, sadly however I have nothing to play it with.

Music such as this shall pass this way no more, what a shame.

  • 157 is an emirp! An emirp is a prime number that is another prime number when read backwards.

  • @1Carrice :)

  • and it's Gratzer, not Grotzer.

  • @marcpierini Actually, it's Kevin Cronin. Terry Luttrell helped write it when he was briefly with the band, but this is definitely Kevin on the vocals. It's from the live album and when it first came out my buddies and I would listen to it during our herbal therapy sessions.

  • This is with Terry Luttrell, if I'm not mistaken.

  • Best album they EVER put out! Sadly they went bubblegum.

  • @randsonic They finally released it on a CD. I have 3 Vinyl copies of this. It`s all I could find over the years, since I first heard it on a Columbia Record Club sampler back in the 70`s.

  • @drawblood1119 you have to put the best at the top of that list,Frank marino.but i agree bout slash,he can't carry any of these guys' case.Keep rockin :)

  • Awsome band, awsome song

  • @drawblood1119 totally agree. One of the best guitars of his time. Wouldnt let Slash carry his guitar to the stage
