Fox 7 - Inspector Gadget Spot - Xantrex Powerpack 200 Plus

I demonstrate the Xantrex Powerpack 200 plus to Sean McHose. This gadget provides power (both AC and DC), jumper cables, flashlight and an air compressor all in a single package. The perfect addition to your vehicle or home in case of an emergency. During a recent power outage, I plugged a 15w fluorescent bulb (which is the equivalent of a 60w incandescent light) into this baby and we had light in our home for over two-hours.

I continually was having trouble with the battery. Finally I had the $ and took it to a mechanic last month. Turns out the battery is fine, it is the spark plugs that are bad. That is why the engine wouldnt start. I got 4 new sp plus, a new distributor cap, and new wires. I havent not had trouble so far. Thanks for all of your help.

@lilkunta You probably know by now, but your powerpack sat for too long (they discontinued this product back in 2006 for the powerpack 300, 450 and 600). It has been sitting in a warehouse since 2006 and the batteries have probably sulphated (gone bad) in your unit. I suggest you get another unit, because replacement batteries are too expensive ($50 or more for the 20 ah battery in this unit). These units go bad if they aren't charged at least once every 3 months, regardless if used or not.

Steve: I have this powerpack200plus battery. I plugged it up for 12hrs. I pressed the button adn it illuminates to green/full battery, but when I try to jump start my car (1.4L 3cyl geo metro lsi) it doesnt work. & immediately the battery indicator goes down to red/empty. I charged it again and tried again, the same result.

Any idea y?

Wat kind of battery goes into the hiles next to the battery level indicator?
