God gave Mariah Carey one of the best voices in the world. Unfortunately that voice is also extremely fragile.

To the below poster. She doesn't sound as good as her 90s days of course. Then she was untouchable. Today she has a hoarseness which in my opinion sounds more honest and her voice is just ad powerful. Not to mention Mariah at 75% of her prime still wipes the floor with screaming always-strained "glorious" voices today who can't replicate their studio recordings by s mile ::shade::

Okay, I'm a HUGE Mariah fan, but I mean I think it would be in denial to say that she sounds the same as she did in her 1990s performances. But there are two things to consider here: like you said, she has been performing for 20+ years and her choice of songs as of late doesn't really leave for much vocal wiggle room. She can still tear down the house though and hold her own if not dominate almost all of today's artists. I would LOVE to see a duet with her and Jhud though =D

I'm a huge fan of Mariah Carey. And in my whole entire life, I had never said Whitney can't sing. Whitney CAN sing. I just prefer Mariah Carey.
