First, It was Western Electric,
Second, the model 300 is the phone commonly regarded as the first handset+ ringer combination
third, i have a model 500 dated 1948

The first all-in-one phone was the 302, introduced in the 30's. There was also a 5302, which is a cross between a 302 & 500. It was introduced around the time of the 500 switchover so WE could use up old stocks of 302 parts.

Ummm.. there was the 300 series that had the network, ringer etc. in the base. And it wasn't AT&T per se, but Western Electric that introduced it.

My father (R.I.P.) was a repairman for Bell Of Pennsylvania back in the early to mid 70's. Our cellar had so many of these!!!! I sorta miss 'em. My father too....

mr grandma had a rotary phone. I just remeber it took effort to dial a number. Especially if the number had a lot of 9's or 0's in it. I will admit, I do miss the ring though. It had a actual ringing bell in it. Nothing will ever replace the ring on the older phones.
