  • Wow, the pianist is a virtuoso, the orchestra sounds amateur and powerless.

  • It actually does!

Although I didn't even know what the Battle Hymn of the Republic sounds like until I went and found it just now...

  • Yes! Not so crazy....Battle Hymn of the Republic was written in 1861. This piano concerto was written 1871-1881! Does anyone agree that it sounds similar?

  • =.="

    Brahms and American Civil War...?

  • Does anyone know why :58 to 1:08 sounds like Battle Hymn of the Republic? Was Brahms influenced by the American Civil War?

  • excellent pianist, a young Yundi Li ( here at 17) playing an oustanding piano concert, Brahms' no, 2, written in B flat major, and premiered on november 9, 1881 in Budapest with the author himself at the piano
