  • I have never been really "religious" about the rule of thirds. I am aware of it but when I am framing I think more about Backgrounds, Balance, and as you said, It's more about what you exclude than what you leave in. I have had people tell me how great my compositions are when really I was just trying to keep a STOP sign out of the frame. LOL

  • Great tutorial! Thanks.

  • Very nice. It's refreshing to see the evil Rule of Thirds (ROT!) being discussed in a less-than-literal sense. So many people mindlessly "place the bird on the third intersection" without realizing that they have simply substituted unthinking "bulls-eye" composition with an equally unconscious rigid interpretation of ROT.

I've only watched a few of your videos, but I have to say that your discussions of the conceptual aspects of photography - instead of literal 'rules' - is quite refreshing.

  • I'm not a believer in luck either, know your craft! Great vid and great information as well! Keep them coming!

  • Dude your vid is awesome, why you dont have more view? you are really good.

    many tks
