Gaudete ("Rejoice") is a sacred Christmas carol, composed sometime in the 16th century. The song was published in a collection of Finnish/Swedish sacred songs published in 1582. Unfortunately, as far as I know, the composer(s) of Piae Cantiones have been forgotten way back.
Do however notice the historical similarity with Carmina Burana composed by Carl Orff (abt. 1934-35) where the actual texts were from 1100-1200.

@Peilai2 By "old consort", do you mean a musical group that you performed with, or an old "amiable consort", in the 17th/18th century sense of "spouse"? :)

@lichtbroeder If "Old consort" refers to his wife, she must have been the only accompanist he needed with 2 recorders (acoustic, not electronic I presume), 2 viols, a sackbut and percussion! Think of how busy she must have been by the the end of the concert!
I did enjoy this recording immwnsely. I have choral recordings of this, including one, my favorite, by Libera.

Well done! I'm learning tune ringing on handbells and it's really hard! This is impressive!
This is really good. No faulty Latin pronunciation to worry about, anyway. :)
I wish there were a video of the choir playing this.

So do I. Unless we were performing somewhere high-profile, we were rarely videotaped.
