They exist !!! Records 16 RPM. Very rare. In fact the only one I ever saw. The sound quality is not that bad. Only suffering from rumble, due to the drive system of the turntable. You can almost read the label while playing the disc.

  • to the poster: could you possibly upload a video showing this album on the last song? i've always been curious to see how the slow RPM's would affect the sound quality of the recording.. i'm sure this turntable has a good anti-skating mechanism.. but with the low velocity..

  • @RDC98TDI : The last song is on line.

  • Not bad...is it stereo? It sounds like this...

  • No, its mono.

  • What was the actual time by side, and in the entire record?

    Amazing.

  • 1 hour in total. 30 minutes by side.

  • I have to slightly disagree with biker. CDs don't pop or crackle, but you can't duplicate the warmth of a clean vinyl record, especially one played on a Mathes Hi-Fi. Ipods are incredible, but I'd rather have the colossal Hi-Fi sitting in my living room.

  • 16 rpm is an interesting format. They should have developed it more.

  • Pas mal du tout. Je crois que le 16 tourds convenait mieux à la variété qu'au classique. J'ai un seul 16 tours classique, et il y a un fort pleurage.Ici c'est très bon.

  • 16rpm was originally designated for "talking books", for the blind and visually impaired. By the late '50s, the speed was also used for Seeburg's automated music system, featured in department stores, factories, and the like. Some enterprising Amercian (and foreign) record manufacturers decided to capitalize on this slower speed by releasing commercial albums [very few of them were successful].

  • Sloohoow!

  • it doesn't sound as bad as you would think quality-wise at such a speed.

  • PRECISOUSSS!!!!

  • Wow cool, I didn't even know these existed until about a year or so ago... Why weren't these more prevalent? They seem pretty great, and the sound quality is fantastic too, I wonder why they didn't quite catch on.... I mean I know you don't always need to hold an hour of music, bu you could just make the record smaller! Imagine that!

  • I agree, i don't know what it is, but vinyl has a very special sound to it.
