Didn't have the tripod with me today...Sorry 'bout the shaky camerawork!

On July 7, 2011 around 11:00 AM (varies by source) a wildfire broke out along carbon Canyon Road in Orange County, CA. I arrived at the scene around 12 Noon. Crews from Los Angeles County, San Bernardino County, CAL FIRE, the Orange County Fire Authority, Norco Fire, and the Chino Valley FD were on scene. The fire was burning in a very remote part of the canyon...hardly accessible by the fire crews, let alone myself. Olinda VIllage, the neighborhood seen in the video is the main residential threat.

  • It's nice to see these up close images of events.

  • @WindyCityNovelties Thanks very much! It was tough to get close enough to see the actual blaze due to the remote location the fire was burning, but I tried to get as close as possible to the approaching smoke plume.

    Thanks again!

  • I hope they got this under control. We deal with wildfires here in Oklahoma also. They happen a lot during tornado season. Tornadoes will be on the east side of the dryline, and fires on the west side of the dryline.

  • @Torn80cj Thanks! They just got it extinguished this morning, fortunately! We even hear about some of OK's wildfires here occasionally on the local news. And that drought in western Oklahoma is bad news. I'm hoping you guys see some relief soon! ;)

    Thanks for watching!

  • Good footage. Is it from lightning?

  • @anonymousstormchaser Thanks Chris! Pretty sure it's not from ligtning... Sounds like the cause is still under investigation.

  • @KansasStorms Haha, Thanks for doing that Nathan! It doesn't bother me much at all. It could have been the shaky camera, or maybe the fact that they didn't see any flames...etc. I really tried my best to get as close as safely possible. As it turned out the only flames I ever saw came from one of the news helicopters because the fire was in such a remote area.

Either way, I enjoyed documenting and it always makes my day to read yours and everyone else's nice comments! :)

  • If you are wondering what is at 1:15 in the video...The smoke and ashes were being carried by the wind and you can see some ashes falling to the ground. That scene was being filmed at my place just a few miles from the fire line.

  • @mistahxkai87 That would be why! I was saying the same thing myself in the early morning. Took a look out back and saw all the smoke and ashes!

    Thanks for watching! :)

  • and thats why it was all smokey in my area today hmm
