This video shows you the basic things you'll need to know in order to do well as a Demolition Man in Valve's Team Fortress 2.

Don't forget to rate, favorite or comment!

As a Demo, you'll usually be expected to take out enemy Sentry Guns and to defend certain areas (capture points, intelligence, etc.)...but of course you can do much more. ;)

You can use sticky mines to jump great distances. You can use this technique to jump on points, over enemies, on top of certain buildings that other classes can't reach, and so on. This gives you a great advantage on most maps.

Remember that you can throw sticky mines farther by holding down the fire button for a while! In the video, I use this to take out sentries that are very far away (too far to shoot me!) or even to take out snipers. The power/distance of the shot is indicated by a little horizontal gauge that fills up at the bottom-right of your screen.

You can even use stickies to separate an ubered player from his medic, so try to do that when you can, and also try to stay behind walls and shoot or bounce grenades around them to kill your enemies without getting killed yourself.

I played back my demos at 1280x960 with max settings, 4x AA and 16x AF. I then recorded the video at half-res (640x480) and 30fps using FRAPS using an Intel Core2Quad Q6600 running at 2.8ghz with a Geforce 8800GT and 3GB of RAM at ~750mhz.

This game is much more fun than Call of Duty 4, Halo 3, Gears of War, Grand Theft Auto IV, etc. ;)

  • Not exactly an instructional video, more of a fragvid. But since it is titled as an instructional video, I will review it as such.

Sticky spamming. Yeah, it works and all, but it keeps you from laying traps, leaving you exposed from more angles. Pipe bombs are your primary for a reason.

I will grant it is far better than most of the demoman videos I have seen though. You remembered that stickies can be used to attack around corners, and you occasionally did lob a few pipes.

  • I have other vids with pipes if you're into that.

The thing about "laying traps" is it's not offensive and it's very slow. I always try to push up and get tons of points and you don't do that by setting a trap and waiting 5 minutes for someone to walk into it so you can get one kill. I don't use that technique unless someone's chasing me since it really doesn't get you many points quickly.

This video was to show how you can jump and get to places quickly and attack using stickies.

  • iSO: do you play on the 360 as demoman under a similar name? and did you play with PSYNemesis as demo the day before xmas on dustbowl?

  • No, sorry, I only play it on the PC under "[iSO] Big D."

  • you get an unusual amount of crits

  • No, it's just that I didn't show all the parts where I hit 7-8 times without killing people...there's no reason to show those parts. Also, I believe the more you stay alive and the better you do, the higher your crit chance gets.

  • you need to learn how to strafe. /watch?v=vcNhmrtAlkk

  • Dem crits

  • Since you like crits so much, here's a useful technique:

If you have a medic that has a Kritz, charge up a sticky and tell him to pop it when the charge meter hits full, and blast away a fully charged crit sticky. With some proper aiming and a bit of luck, you can get 2-3 kills with one sticky.

  • You need to learn to air control, and properly sticky jump instead of immediately detonating.

  • Horrible.

  • @dantsuale now maybe, but imagine seeing this two years ago, there was still alot of stuff that people hadn't noticed back then.

  • dont you like pipes? they are way better in some situations.

  • You're average at Demo. Lol.
