Manifesto Launch Oct 2009

Carnegie's Manifesto for Rural Communities brings together key messages from a major, four-year long action research programme funded by Big Lottery, UK. This video was taken at the launch of the Manifesto on October 22nd, St. Martin in the Fields, London. Attendees included Jim Paice, Shadow Minister for Agriculture for the Conservative Party, the Director General of Country Land and Business Association, a senior policy advisor for NFU, David Drew MP leader of the Labour Group of rural MPs, the CEO of CPRE, several civil servants from Communities and Local Government, Office of the Third Sector and DEFRA, Stuart Burgess the Rural Advocate, and many more. We have had a good write-up from different media outlets and offers from potential partners to work together. This comment from the Rural Services Network of Local Authorities is typical;
I attended the launch of the Carnegie Rural Manifesto this week - and captured enough of the senses of an insightful and truly bottom-up agenda for the future to be very impressed. Local authorities need to get alongside this document. It has some real insights to offer and it really chimes in with some work we have just finished on economic well-being case studies for the Commission for Rural Communities about the unique role local authorities have in helping unlock the considerable potential of rural communities in England.
