There's always fishing, the neighbors dog, and people.

Chickens and rabbits can be grown in very little area and very economically. And, I might add, more safely than running around in the woods with 50 gazillion other hungry people all looking for the same deer.
Once you kill the game, you still have to get out of the woods. Thats the scary part for me.

I'm not sure about others' plans but but going out there and hunt for food would be the last thing I'd do. I would invest more on canned goods, wheats, pastas and rice for food or maybe plant within the property but walking around for food is not really smart during hard times. I don't want to be THE source of protein for crazy people out there.

And when I say a billion squirrels, yes I'm exaggerating. But I mean there's a lot out there

I have hunting property at an undisclosed city in south ga that's about 250 acres, prime hunting land. Small game population has dropped, but not too much. I can still look out from my underground cabin door and see a billion squirrels out running around. I could pop a couple hundred and they'll still be hangin around. I don't think my area was hit hard with animal shortage, so I ought to be fine. I got a good stockpile of food though, and I'm pretty prepared

Its true game is getting les and less these days.. fortunatley where i am game is still up in numbers...

Even if game is plentiful,if you don't have land you don't have wild game, and you will b shot for trespassing to get someone else's game,if you live on a lot or in an apt. You're gonna b screwed. I was talking with a woman today about prepping and she said she was glad her husband knew how to hunt.(lol) going on a guided hunt at a private ranch and shooting 160 class bucks at a cost of $3500. + doesn't mean you know how to hunt. Get out of debt, buy land, and learn all you can about prepping.

I remember reading somewhere that, during the great depression, the fauna in North America went thru a pretty rough patch. Even squirrels were decimated.

I heard that the deer population in the western u.s. was almost gone in the 30's during the great depression!!! We had to transport deer from the eastern u.s. to re-populate them!!! If this is true, we are in deep shit!!!!!!!!!!
