"Not so much of an ugly bitch now, am I?" She whipped off her sunglasses revealing someone who I never thought I would see ever again. Demi.
"Dddems?" I stuttered like a fool.
"Demi." She corrected me.
"How have you been?" She smiled wickedly at me. I could feel my adams apple bob up...then back down.
"Very well thank you Joe. You?"
"Yeah, good as well thanks." Not really. How can I just say to her, 'my life has been empty without you'?
"Next please." A different cashier was serving. I ushered for her to go.
"You first." She nodded. Demi ordered a hot chocolate. She whipped out her card but I held back her hand.
"Let me." I paid for her hot chocolate.
"There was no need to do that."
"It's alright." It was really awkward between us.
"No need to start small talk Joe." I didn't know what to say to that so I ordered a hot chocolate . I walked away, hoping there was no more awkward tension. Browsing for my corner, I made myself comfortable on the seat. I brought out my book and started reading it. By reading it, I meant the first sentence of the chapter. That was it. I couldn't get my mind off of her.
"I didn't know you read Nicholas Sparks." The familiar voice arose in my ears.
"Yeah, he's a really good author." Demi stood there.
"Want to join me?" I asked politely.
"No." She replied in a dull voice.
"Okay." I must've had a hurt expression upon my face.
"Doesn't feel good when you get rejected does it?" Demi asked in a bitchy tone.
"I deserve that. I'm sorry Dems."
"Demi." She corrected me.
"Yeah...Sorry."
"Sorry doesn't make everything better. It just hurts even more at the fact that you throw the word around."
"Demi-"
"Do you know how many sorrys I had to hear from you? And do you know how all of them hurt me?"
"Dems-"
"Demi!" She snapped. I tried so hard to not roll my eyes.
"Do not senselessly mind boggle your eyes!" How did she know?
"You know after all these years I thought you would change. But here I am 5 years later, still heartbroken at the person you are. I am repulsed at such a horrible personality." She fake spat beside me.
"Not even worth to be muttered by my words." She turned around walking away. I grabbed my stuff, catching up to her. I jerked her back, by holding her elbow. I spun her to face me.
"Dems-"
"Demi." She voiced through her gritted teeth.
"Look I want to apologize Dems-"
"It's too late to apologize. I didn't come back to hear an apology from you. Actually I came back for my own reasons. I just thought I would make an appearance in front of you, to jog your memory of how badly you treated me. But apparently it didn't work so well." I swear my mouth just dropped to the ground. I let her arm go, watching her walk away. But she stopped in her tracks and faced me for one last time.
"It's Demi to you. I bet now you wish you hadn't done that to me right? Well what's done is done. But now you can grovel in my walkway. Because this ugly bitch is back." She winked evily, flipping her hair. Demi strolled away, making my eyes fixated on her.
