"Some scientific explanations are so well established that no new evidence is likely to alter them. The explanation becomes a scientific theory. In everyday language a theory means a hunch or speculation. Not so in science. In science, the word theory refers to a comprehensive explanation of an important feature of nature supported by facts gathered over time. Theories also allow scientists to make predictions about as yet unobserved phenomena."

That is the definition of a scientific theory according to the U.S. National Academy of Sciences.

The scientific community does state that evolution is known as a fact. Unless you're speaking of the very tiny percentage 0.15% of scientists (700) of the 480,000) that believe in creationism that will use "theory" when they talk of evolution to mislead and confuse the general public who dont know any better, and these "scientist" include computer scientist, mechanical engineers, etc. The 480,000 scientist working in the relevant field of earth and life say "fact of evolution".

Actually pretty much all respectable scientists agree that evolution is a fact. Evolution happens. It is no longer a theory, but a proven fact, in the same way that we know gravity exists. Thus you have the law of gravity, with theories like Newton's law of universal gravitation.

The *way* evolution happens, called 'natural selection' is the theory when it comes to evolution.

However, it is NOT "just a theory", they made notjustatheory[dot]com just for people like you.

That was how your precious church thought the planet looked like. The scientists in those days knew the earth was an orb... and I'm sure you know what the friendly christian church did to them... prosecute them (like Galilei).

And the second part of your comment shows how little you actually know about evolutionary biology and archaeology, so the answer to your question is; yes, you do look like a retard now.

Archaeologists have found near complete human skeletons of 1.6 million years old.
