Ok, so it was fun driving cross-country in "Moses" but, assuming there was a way to fit all of my worldly possessions in it, WOULDN"T IT HAVE BEEN GREAT TO DRIVE CROSS-COUNTRY IN THE WESTY?!?!?
You should buy another one and drive it to Cali/Oregon/Wash/Vancouver--or wherever you're going.
I'm half-kidding.

My first car was a 1983 Vanagon Diesel. I loved that car.

Great vehicles(except for the motors) I'd rather have air cooled than a waterboxer.
-
@JeffTheCanuck2 ~Seesh, I see comments from 2 of my old channels on this video, back to 2007. I should make a clone video, with my vanagon. ~Doggchop

It's either an 83.5 or 84 Vanagon Westfalia. Air cooled were from 80-83 and are identified by only one grill, between the headlights. The rear hatch has no "DIESEL" badge and by it's sound it's definitely a wasserboxer. That means 83.5-91. Round headlights narrow it down to 83.5-85. 85-91 had a smaller sliding door handle, which narrows it down to either a mid-year 83 model, or an 84.
