Unless the video is going to be recorded live, the singer has to lip sync to the song otherwise there's going to be continuity problems and the performance won't look like it's matching up with the recorded track (kind of like an old kung fu film). In fact, the track has to be played at the same speed as the camera their shooting with.

now you just cannot accuse the singer for selling out because of lip syncing for a video, he really sang his throat out, not much people do this when filming a video
