Yo Dawg, we heard you like emulators, so we put an emulator on your emulator so you can game while you game :)
-
Wine is like Java. Java is a JIT compiler (which is an interpreter until it is more efficient to run the code compiled), so Wine would be a JIT emulator.

@asmith4726 I would use Mupen64plus but donkey kong 64 doesnt work :(
-
This is the best system I can emulate.
Gamecube and up lags like craZy :/
-
@adamvanderneut WINE will not decrease your performance much, I used to play WoW on Linux with all the settings cranked up on my self build PC. the fps is no different, WINE plays WOW at FULL speed
-
@DaweyYT It emulates system programs, though. Project64 doesnt emulate a Nintendo 64, It replicates a GAME on the n64, aka, Wine emulates a program on the windows computer.
-
wine is not an emulator, it mostly translates windows code to linux...
-
emulating an emulator huh. i tried and it doesnt work a fraction of the speed that it does on windows. get mupen64plus works just fine
-

@DaweyYT Wine is a windows emulator. By definition an emulator is something that replicates another system. It definitely falls into the emulator category.

To simply call it an emulator is wrong. It doesn't replicate another system completely, like a game emulator does.
