DESCRIPTIVE NARRATIVE
From near the O'Sullivan Beach Boat Ramp see magpies, (the 'Piping Shrike' is a South Australian emblem), and hear them warbling, look north across the headland to Port Stanvac Jetty, and down to the boat ramp car park. (Oil tankers are no longer seen here, since the Stanvac oil refinery closure.) Look at the beach, rocks, and across to Witton Bluff headland, with Port Noarlunga jetty in the far distance. Walk south along the beach looking at sea weed and rocks. At Christies Creek look north, then south. We then ride a bicycle from near the creek, along the damp sand heading south, and up the Christies Beach Yacht Club boat ramp. Ride along the esplanade to 'Y steps', and continue along the esplanade southward looking at the streetscape, and at the end of Beach Road. GPS the location, then walk along a gravel path under Witton Bluff, looking at plants and scenery, to near the end, where at low tide, the reef is exposed and you can see many types of sea creatures close up in the wild, eg. limpets, abalone, snails, and sea anemones. See video of different types of rocks, bi-valves, molluscs, starfish, worm tubes, and marine intertidal vegetation. Walk to the end of the reef, look around, and return to near the rocky wave erosion barrier, below Witton Bluff. This reef, and others near by are protected, no take areas. Ride up Witton Bluff, over the top, and down the south side to Port Noarlunga, where an obelisk looks out over the small seaside town street scape, where we see the Port Noarlunga jetty, the Port Noarlunga Reef, and Gulf St Vincent. See Port Noarlunga, and ride along the beach, and car park, back on to the sand, then past Southport Lifesaver's club, fishers, and walkers, to the end of the sand spit, and cliffs of Onkaparinga Head, at the mouth of the Onkaparinga River. Cut to Weatherald Tce., near the Pedestrian foot bridge over the river, and a Carpark near public toilets, and continue cycling up the hill, taking in scenic views of the river mouth, and sand spit from the top of the cliff. Ride past beach houses along the cliff top, (with the esplanade running parallel to the cliffs), and descend along a rough dirt path, following the coast to stairs, past 'Triggs', 'the Trough' and Seaford surf spots, to Moana Beach, and Pedlars Creek's outlet, which is about 40 Km south of Adelaide. This footage was taken in early spring, and on cold days, so few people are at the beaches. See beaches, flora and fauna, coastal recreational facilities, geology - rock strata, and exposed reefs; and hear wind noise, seaside noises, road traffic, and bird calls. See coastal recreational facilities, eg., boat ramps, breakwater, clubhouses, jetties, and walking paths. By Cyber Holidays, Australia: www.cyberholidays.com.au
