what i like to do for creaky foot steps, is take a 2 by 4, and nail it with 2 nails to 2 other pieces of wood at each end, so that it is held above the ground by the other wood pieces, kinda like you were making a rope bridge, sorta. Then what i do is soak it in water for a few hours and then let it dry in the sun all day, then when you step on it, (be careful not to fall for it will be very flimsy) it makes a nice long load creak.

Sometimes less is more, as said A. Hitchcock when was asked why refused the music for "Birds". I am thinking about that while in a cinema watching something new I am unable follow the picture because of confusing electronic storm from repros:-)
And that with box is nice too. In Germany they called this "Goebbels" and in former socialistic countries "Lenin" :-) Please, what idiom is used for horror box scene in America? By M.Groening "Nixon" but he´s joking

Nice, well-done. Some amplifying and some echo will spice up the picture.
But what to do if you´re making horror scene like captured at soudless surveillance cam record :-)

Strangely enough that was one of the only genuine sounds recorded down in that cellar. It's a bit gravelly on the floor and amplified it sounds super crunchy
