It was 7 a.m. Sunday morning, and 17-year-old Alexander Hurley called his mom, Susan, from his cell phone to ask her what she wanted from Dunkin' Donuts.
The Brockton teen had just completed a newspaper delivery route in Easton, and was heading home.
"I told him what I wanted, and 'I'll see you in a little while honey,'" Susan Hurley said, clutching a photograph of her son while standing in front of their Sharon Street home Sunday. "He said, 'Yep, I'll see you in a little bit Mom,' and that was the last conversation."
Shortly after their chat, the world as Susan Hurley knew it ended.
Her son, Alexander Hurley, died Sunday morning after the 2007 Ford Focus he was driving struck a building on Belmont Street. He was to start his junior year at Norfolk County Agricultural High School in Walpole on Thursday.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the 7:27 a.m. crash that severely damaged the yellow building housing Fairground Trader Guns at 421 Belmont St.
