the u.s has systems to shoot missles out of the sky so if a nuclear weapon was comming to attack us we could get it before they get us...so i hate to say it but it isnt over just like that

There are a few siteson Internet making a good case for nuclear weapons never having worked - the whole idea may be a myth, a bit like the 'moon landings'. I know it sounds crazy - I only heard about this a few weeks ago. Try searching for NukeLies on Google as an intro video - it's only 8 mins or so and might change your whole attitude
