  • I have that same knife from target

  • Did u have any overheating problems after installing it?? cause ive read on some forums that u may..

  • @SINNEDGAMEFREAK Not necessary true. I know of a comp with a WD 5400 RPM and it runs at 95-100 F normally, a 7200 Seagate I have runs at 84-87 degrees normally, the WDC is in a laptop with a more powerful fan than the laptop with the Seagate too, LOL! Seagate 5400RPM run 10-20 degrees cooler than WDC. Depends on the model, only thing higher RPM should do is increase speed that data is being transferred at, very little temperature difference, it's a WDC myth that HDs so run so goddamn hot.

  • Basically for the PS3, you need a drive that is almost always or always running at a good speed when playing and doesn't go idle after 1 minute. Also, you need to make sure that is backwards compatible with the normal SATA ( Not just SATA 3 ), specific models have a switch or jumper to put them in old SATA mode. Mind you, is very hard to find a 7200 rpm model with these features. Most people have luck with 5400 rpm.

  • @KingMacintosh

I've had very bad luck with lots of seagate models, samsung on the other hand, has gotten decent reviews on many sites, but specific models are not as easy to get with samsung. Hitachi is pretty hard to get too. Seagate and Western Digital dominate the cheap and unreliable hd market ( Unfortunately for many countries outside of the U.S. and Japan. And by now, many have discovered that drives which have *ADVANCED POWER MANAGEMENT* technology fail hard with the ps3. ( Spindown )

  • @thousandyoung Alright, I like Hitachi, but I've seen a number of TravelStar failures. Now, this might be from your typical WDC thumper, but it still doesn't mask the fact that blindly shouting for a company is idiotic. From my experiences, my Seagate laptop drive runs great, I have a 5-year-old Samsung laptop drive running fine, and I have many dead WDCs. For 2.5" now, people should be looking at Seagate, Hitachi (R.I.P, soon WDC), Samsung(soon Seagate). 3.5" is a totally different story.

  • @nirbanhossain Yes, but don't cry to us how your WD drive dies in a little under a year. WDC = WORST LAPTOP DRIVES ONLY BEHIND TOSHIBA. WDC might be a god to so many of you, but Desktop drives was their thing, WAS, not laptop drives, they just jumped into that.

Do us the favor for a 2.5", take a peak at Seagate, Samsung or Hitachi first. None are the best, but I'm sure due to reviews and experiences that all three are better than a shitty WDC or Toshiba 2.5". My data loss experiences urge you.

  • Will My Playstation 3 Slim Support Western Digital WD10JPVT?

Western Digital WD10JPVT Scorpio Blue is 1TB, SATA 3G, 5400 RPM, 8MB. 2.5 inch and it is 9.5mm not like 12.5mm which can not be installed on playstation 3. Now i am worried about SATA3 issue.

  • i know thiz is a dumb question but what kinda drive does it take to upgrade a ps3 (250gb)[slim]??? i want to upgrade to either a tb or a 2tb....let me know plz...

  • can i reinstall the same firmware 3.55?
