@nousnous101 The answer is simple. No song can ever remain the property of one person, and when a good singer dies the music they performed lives on. As good as Billie Holiday was, many other singers have continued to perform this song, some of them making an excellent job of it, and will continue to do so for many years. The positive side of this is that many people who had never heard of Billie Holiday will seek her out having heard those other singers perform her work - no bad thing.
