IT SEEMS THAT MOST OF THESE REMARKS HAVE NO CLUE AS WHAT THE SOUNDS ARE COMING FROM THE SOUL AND THROUGH THE INSTRUMENT. THESE ARE THE CRIES OF THOSE WHO HAVE SUFFERED AND LOST AND SHALL BE REMEMBERED. HELLOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
but i keep wondering, i can understand easily that generally, when u play it can be simply happiest moments in life, but if this is the ONLY thing that makes u happy id say sth's wrong with ur life
it's not just pain... looking at older korean music - like sijo poems - there is great joy in simple things (even if it doesn't sound joyful)... I'd say Koreans are much more emotional.. but they just had a lot of pain, so they tend to be emotional about that... but it doesn't mean they don't find joy in anything, or no joy in learning... one professional gayageum player I know, she tried hard because it was the only thing that made her happy.
hmn.. yeah, confuscianism is actually good for educating the dogs though.. our societies need something more.. flexible. christianity seems to have done so well by mixing it up with the native shamanism. but they're bit too exclusive, commercial and often double-standard, as well. we want something more generous and logical, now.. if they go along altogether.. it'll be great anyway. possible??
heh, if you're stubborn in good case it's good, if in bad - bad.
yeah,as for confucianism, i went to as far as to Yi Ching hexagrams and i really dont know where he got the ideas from, not from the book for sure. wish Koreans could look back at their history and see thru before they destroy their country completely.after all, democracy goes well together with shamism or buddhism, but mixing it with confusianism is quite explosive.
as for the music, it IS very special,in its origins.
yeah, freeing your mind from patterns that's been inprinted there whole your life seems to be a never-ending story, still, there comes the moment when sth inside there cracks and u feel relieved and joyfull, and since then u are the one and only brainwasher so u can model your mind at will. and express at will :)
they actually used to accept the buddhism in Koryeo eras.. but confuscinism replaced it later.. right? and after that, the japanese imperialism, later then the christianity and the americanisation.. hmm.. tibetan buddhism might can help them.. to abandon their desires and stubborness. though i'd still pay much respect to the korean music based on their history.
