Baby Ballerinas - 'Les Sylphides'

This little snippet shows the three baby ballerinas of the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo (Irina Baronova, Tatiana Riabouchinska, Tamara Toumanova) dancing in Mikhail Fokine's 'Les Sylphides'. It was probably filmed in the early-mid 1930s.

The porte de bras of Tamara Toumanova of particularly beautiful - elegantly expressive of the music and with perfect line.

yes i'm continually surprised how much is out there too

much seems to creep out of russian archives - like the olga preobrajenska footage - never imagined it existed

so goodness knows what else is out there - but i'm on its tracks!

You've posted some remarkable historical ballet videos over the last little while. Every time I see a clip like this it only serves to pique my curiosity about Les Ballet Russes and other ballet of that period even more. And it also makes me wonder just how much more phenomenal footage is still gathering dust in some film studio's archives even now!
