The summary of the collection of photographs
(Shodoshima Nouson Kabuki)

The Shodoshima Nouson Kabuki has lasted more than 200 years from the Edo era and it continues to be presented by islanders as one of the few nationwide places that preserve traditional art such as traditional stages, costumes and scripts.
As a photographer, Mr. Yamanaka captured the hearts of the people in the island that inherits traditional arts and it reflects the existence of a real community and Confucianism in the whole island.
Nakayama and Hitoyama represent the Shodoshima Nouson Kabuki which is an irreplaceable precious property in Japan.
I would be extremely happy to tell you about the people who have inherited these traditions. Also, I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to the people of Shodoshima. Thank you very much. (Mr. ShinobuYamanaka)
