I've finally recorded the process (or at least the first part) of tying a turks head handle wrap on a Fiskars hatchet! Check out this video explanation and demonstration that shares what I know so far, It should simplifiy a potentially complicated topic. I've generalized this tutorial so that you may do long turks heads of any number of turns; so now you can do those hiking staffs, knives, hatchets and even those motorcycle handlebars you asked me about!

  • Do you sell Garnet paracord? I really want to make this hatchet in garnet and gold for my FSU alumni father. Do you think the maroon you sell is close enough?

  • @MARKBBOICE sorry, I don't have either color right now. I removed the hatchets from my site for now because I can't do them as cheaply anymore.

  • well i know what i am doing to my new tomahawk this weekend

  • @DaytonaRoadster good luck. come by my paracordist facebook wall and post feedback and pics when you are done!

  • I have 'the encylopedia of knots and fancy rope work" ISBN 0-87033-021-7 it has 690 pages of knots and instructions covering thousands of different examples. It starts in the front of the book with simple twists and gets more and more complicated the further pages that you turn. There are few people who would get benefit out of all of the info .. you definitley would. Most folks need to know about 10 knots if they are in the woods, maybe 5 if they stay in town.

  • @BornRandy62 that looks like a great reference; I gotta get me that to expand. thanks a bunch

  • Hey Kevin, just did my 1st attempt at paracord wrapping anything, and didn't start with the easiest. It was a knife with a painted black metal handle in a "Y" shape, tapering down at the end, and very slippy. I only had about 3 1/2 inches to work with, and hell was it frustrating! I watched these videos over and over, and finally got it on the 6th go. Some passes didn't turn out perfectly uniformed, but I'm still very happy with how it turned out. Thanks for your efforts, and providing this!

  • @HwoaHwoarang thanks for comments. it is same as X7. I'll be doing an X7 in the next couple months. checkout my facebook/site for it!

  • ...thanks for the video - a lot of my inspiration...This is the older type of fiskars. Which is the same length - X7 or X10? ...thx...

  • @adevincenzo its a fid. I'll soon be offering them for sale on my website (roughly 3 weeks)
