My greencheek conure, Chico, doing flips. If you listen, after she eats her treat, she says 'good boy' (we called her a boy for about 7 years until she decided to lay eggs). She has a gravelly little conure voice - greencheeks aren't the greatest talkers!

  • i just got one of these today its my first bird ever how long do they live and how big do they get

  • They don't get much bigger. A weaned baby will grow a tiny bit during the first year. They can live to 20 or 25.

  • How do you teach them to do it on your finger? Or even on a t-stand. One video said to put them on your finger and bend you finger down and turn your hand. But it didn't work for my GCC. She flips upside down and stops!!! PLEASE HELP!!!

  • I can't get her to do it on my finger. She will start to and then seems to get confused and stop.

Most T-stand perchea are too big. You need to use a perch where your bird's feet wrap more than halfway around; otherwise they can't grab it well enough to flip around.

  • great video showing how Conures are entertaining , beautiful and the BEST!!

what treat are you feeding her to train?

  • I am using tiny pieces of walnut.

  • How did you teach her to do that?

  • How Did You Teach Her To Flip Like That?

  • i just got one few days ago so friendly cinnamon green chick

  • my Green cheek yellow belly conure's name is skittles :P

  • My parakeet used to do that

  • My green cheek's name is Chika :)

  • Get the treat down so the your bird can stretch down on your finger to reach it. Lots of P&R (praise and reward) and also say a command every time, i used "somersault". Eventually they do it when you say the word without prompting. Once theyre at that stage, and theyre hanging on your finger, move the treat around your finger to get them to use their beak to "somersault" or full circle and lift themselves back up. more P&R, dont forget to use the command. took me 2 days to teach my GCC this one.
