You don't have to be the author of a book to interpret sarcasm, you don't have to hear tone of voice to interpret sarcasm. Sarcasm is supposed to be very obvious it is not subtle, therefore I can confidently say that this is sarcasm. The fact that you fail to interpret something so plainly obvious shows how dumb you are.
