    You´re right.

    But:

    About 5 years ago it was proven by ocean-scientisis (with ocean-surface-scanning satelites) that according to the statistics ONE monster-wave (above 25 m height) appears EVERY DAY somewhere on the oceans.

    From that point of view freakwaves are "normal" since the oceans were created.

    They only survived because the angle of the ship was perfect when entering the wave (45 degrees; if less or more than 45 degrees the ship would have been destroyed in seconds)
