Drew Barrymore turned her life around from rebellious teenager to celebrated actress, director, and producer. She has come a long way since her past with alcohol and drugs -- and thrived. Barrymore is not only a great actress, she has her own production company that has produced some of Barrymore's most popular films, including 'He's just not that into you' and 'Charlie's Angels'.

Barrymore uses her influence in Hollywood to talk about important world issues. She is the UN's Ambasssador Against Hunger and actively supports the World Food Programme. In 2007, Barrymore took a trip to Kenya for a story in Marie Claire magazine. She visited a number of schools near Nairobi to see how they were coping with the access number of children in schools. Education had become free in Africa and the schools were bursting because so many kids wanted to go. Since then, Barrymore has been an advocate for healthy eating and education for children all over the world. Barrymore took pictures in Kenya to be auctioned off to raise money for the World Food Program - her pictures raised $20,000 for the Marie Claire's World Hunger Campaign.

In 2008, Barrymore donated $1 million to the WFP in an effort to help the WWOFP reach their goal of feeding 10 million hungry children in one year. WFP is seeking $3 billion — just 25 cents a day — to feed 59 million hungry school children in developing countries worldwide for a year. Last year, the organization fed more than 20 million school children with a daily cup of porridge, rice or beans.
Barrymore said her trip to Kenya opened her eyes to "the crippling poverty in the Third World".

I have seen with my own eyes what a difference a simple cup of nutritious porridge can make in a childs life, said Drew Barrymore. It helps them learn, stay healthy and sets them on track for a bright future. I urge everyone — everywhere — to help WFP Fill the Cup for hungry children, and make hunger history.

In addition to giving money to help the campaign, Barrymore is dedicated to educating the world on food issues for African children and help people understand that a little money can go a long way to help children stay healthy and get an education.

  • It's amazing how many little mouths can get feed through the inner grace of just one powerful or influencial lady. She got disciplined, straightened up her act and she is just as beautiful on the inside now. I am proud of women who have such honor and virtue. Rare to find people like. Also very proud of poor ladies who give what they can. equally proud! That's what God want's to see, I think.. Compassion is the key to Heaven, Are women are very special!
