On April 3, 2007, popular author Alice McDermott was awarded the prestigious "Andrew White Medal" by the Rev. Brian F. Linnane, S. J., President of Loyola College in MD. She then read from her latest novel, "After This." Ms. McDermott won the 1988 National Book Award for her acclaimed fourth novel, "Charming Billy." She is currently the Richard A. Macksey Professor at "The Writing Seminar" at the Johns Hopkins University.
