Look out for videos by me of lion hunts. Some idiots just are born stupid to glorify poaching by man and try to use it in debates. But what goes around comes around they always say.

  • joe rogan brought me here !

  • Thanks for this video. I have a beautiful Ridgeback bitch. She rocks. One of the best dogs I've ever owned. Not a great breed for the novice dog handler, however!

I don't know why people worry about what others say about the breed. I mean, just because someone yells the loudest or tries to convince people of his or her own personal beliefs doesn't mean what is said is correct...lol.

  • Final note, I have an 8 yr old RR who killed a 3 year old APT when the pit aggressed a puppy in our yard. While the Pit engaged and held, a RR dances in and out slashing and crushing. We do NOT encourage the use of our breed with fighting. They are not Yard Dogs or Guard Dogs, However they are incredible Protectors of family and stock. I'll take the superior intelligence of a Ridgeback over any other breed. We have had them for 30+ years. They are NOT for everyone! Loyal and Devoted Hounds.

  • Ridgebacks are used to BAY game. They have incredible stamina and intelligence. Ethical Breeders stopped culling the Ridgeless in the 60s and 70s. They are placed on a Spay/neuter contract as excellent pets and hunters. They are the ONLY hound recognized as BOTH Scent and Sight hunters. Ridgebacks work best in packs but still excell as single hunting partners. They are still used by knowledgeable hunters for a wide variety of game. More importantly they excel in other functions.

  • I don't know what shocks me more the people who haven't a clue what they are talking about re Rhodesian Ridgebacks or the morons who can't spell well enough to cause anyone to think they have a point to begin with! Rhodesians are still used in Kruger National Game Reserve working with the Game Wardens. They are a superior working and hunting dog in every way. They should NEVER be cross bred with ANY breed. Why mess with Perfection? The ridge is a trait NOT a defect. Do some Research folks!

  • Few if any RRs hunt anymore, they are not used by the hunting establishment anywhere to hunt pigs/boars or any game.

That job goes to Curs, hounds, Laikas, Jagd terriers & Drahthaars.

And RRs dont hunt puma either, dont have the nose or voice to do so effectively, yes any dog can chase a cat up a tree.

RRs lack real hardness & any sharpness, theres video of a RR refusing to engage with a badger. There are 25# Jadgs and Drahthaars that can kill badger 1vs1.

They ARE pretty & Fast however.

  • i want this

  • Truepain7 you are spot on about the breed. They are far more intelligent as they were engineered to have many purposes, not just one. Ours hunt, lure course, show ,are our companions and work as Therapy Dogs. They have literally saved lives with their incredible ability to think for themselves. Few breeds have adapted so well to a new world as the Rhodesian has. Our dogs have titled in many fields of activity. however the most important role will always be family member.

  • "honey eating bear, pig or deer"??? Seriously rawen777 you have little knowledge of the use of RRs in the USA. A Feral ,as in euro based wild pig may be well over 200 lbs and 100% mean. They have tusks that can be over 4 inches long and are skillfully used to gut a hunting dog. RRs are also used with puma and mountain cat. Their job is simple keep it preoccupied until the hunter can dispatch it. They can run a deer into the ground. I have RRs who actively hunt with their owners sucessfully.

  • @truepain7 - If this were true then the RR would be the pound for pound best fighting dog in the world. But they are not because they are intelligent hunting dogs that work together to accomplish a goal. An Alpha RR fighting for pack dominance might have a chance but seriously doubt it. APT are dumb genetic freaks with no purpose but to please the idiots that bread them to do what they do.
