Dug it about 12 years ago its matured nicelly. The big fish is the matriarch and a mother to a multitude. You can see the baby fish as they swim over the bigger ones as well if you look closely. Baby Goldfish are black so its hard to spot then sometimes.I love my pond.

  • is that a massive goldfish at the start or koi?

  • Its a massive Goldfish. I think she's the mother of a lot of those babys.

  • Thank you all for your comments.

  • What fish do you have mendonca ? I know Koi can be very destructive but goldfish dont usually eat the plants. Or at least mine dont. Also if its a newish pond the first year is the worst and it can be disheartening when nothing seems to go right. I suggest you plant some flag iris and reedmace in containers on the margin so the fish cant touch them. But i got to warn you they are invasive.
