Ice Machine by Depeche Mode, alternate version of the song which was originally the b-side of the debut single Dreaming of Me, released on Mute Records in 1981.

Lyrics:

Running through my head secretly
The shouts of the boys in the factory
I ring you on the telephone silently
Like blood, like the wine in the darkroom scene

The darkroom scene, darkroom scene

A letter, once composed
Seven years long and as tall as a tree
Reading on the wall
Emissions, efficiency

Efficiency, efficiency

Resurrect, as a feeling, on my window
Of a past reunion

Resurrect as a feeling on my window
Of a past reunion
Vision of a picture like the city
And the air we breathe

The air we breathe, air we breathe

She stood beside me once again
I knew her face
We met before in the street
Recalling all the children dancing at our feet

The dancing feet, dancing feet

  • PERHAPS I SHOULD LISTEN TO THE UNHEARD SONGS

  • @natalieanne101 always a good idea

  • @alanwilder81 Crappy Yazoo? Not with a voice like Alison Moyet's, their music still sounds fresher than a lot of "crappy" stuff today, and more memorable than Erasure.

  • @AliceBabybat this is more the old synthpop style ! Depeche Mode are always electronic and are the best they are as wine

  • @thecoldheart2012

OMG we have the same taste exactly! <3

  • @brianartillery Same here , same vinyl ...bloody classic ..

  • This one has a very OMD sound to it. an early influence?

  • @XabiAlonsosCousin calvin harris is MEGA TARD

  • @chubbylegend You are right and countless others too. Saw that knob Calvin Harris recently claiming he was leading the way in new music or some such dogdoo, yet Ive yet to hear him do anything DM hadnt already don't by 1983 and only a fraction of what they did do

  • I always preferred this to the A side. Got it when it first came out. My original 7'' still plays perfectly, over 30 years on. Can't say that for some CD's that I own. They seem to be fucked after about 5 years or so. Vince's songs are so odd because he used to write the words first, and then fitted the tune round them. He told this to 'Smash Hits' Magazine in 1981.
