I don't care what you say, I like this game, even though they could have added more characters to it. and show a little more of the story mode, but the best part about this game is the background music, and you're really supposed to fight the characters in Order, you're supposed to fight Warren First, and then Vagnad second....and I don't remember who you're supposed to select next, but I know you fight Nick last before the final boss Ranker.

Sure, Power Moves was created as the result of the Street fighter craze of the early 90's.
But, people tend to forget that the original street fighter (released to arcades in 87') was completely inspired by classics like Yie Ar Kung fu, Karateka, Karate Champ or even Kung Fu all released before 1987.
Just Street Fighter was connected to an already successful video gaming brand which had the marketing powers to propel the series into stardom.

You're right about the game called "Battle Master" but doesn't seem to be any kind of tie in with power moves but maybe I'm wrong. Nice find though!
-
The only game I remember a name of "SYOH" is "Dead Dance" in japan which is called "Tuff E Nuff" in the US. I don't think it's tied in with power moves at all.

Yep, same game. It was called Power Athlete in Japan. Also the Genesis U.S. version is named "Deadly Moves"

This comment has received too many negative votes show
This game is good. Too bad there aren't enough videos about it. And the reviewer is a moron, always comparing it to SFII.
This game is unlike SFII, it requires more dedication, and the game is harder.

Ahem, said 'moron' here. Fair comparsion, SF II was released on the SNES slightly earlier than Power Athlete/Moves. Both are 2D fighters with punch, kick, and special moves.
Harder is debatable, good is very debatable, however the success of Street Fighter was far far greater. How many versions of Power Athlete were made?
"Dedication" != First Impressions. This game had so many factors against it, yet I'm surprised how many people are vocal about defending this game.
