i think he's tapping his foot at some moments - on the sustain pedal?

c est en effet une des meilleurs enregistrements de ce concerto en sachant que toutes les grandes pianistes ont joué ce concerto. cette virtuosité et panache est introuvable ailleurs....
-
wow i'd like to have been at that concert

It was released in France with a French paper or magazine. Perhaps someone could upload it onto Youtube. Cziffra's recording with Dervaux from the 1950s is more exciting than his later one with Vandernoot. I like Argerich in this work and also Cherkassky who speaks with a very individual voice.

I am not familiar with Argerich's. Check out Weissenberg's. I also like Cziffra's.

Really? But I think Cziffra did a bravo job in that part already! Well... Argerich is also great of course :D
-
not as good as Argerich though.

the one AND ONLY
Exciting performance with a faster tempo than his commercial recording with Vandernoot. Like Horowitz with Toscanini he extends the sky rocketing final alternating octaves to the top of the keyboard. Thrilling! I also like his way with the lyrical theme and the way the tempo is pulled right back for its final grandioso appearance. There are other 'live' performances including one from Japan and one with Ancerl.
