Getting an external mic doesn't really fix the problem. There is a feature in your camera called AGC (Automatic Gain Control) that automatically adjusts the volume, it's the reason you get that hissing feedback.

The magic lantern firmware add a bunch of settings to your camera that aren't available out of the box. You can shot on a timer without a laptop, turn AGC off all together and adjust the quality of the video

@858Graphics Oh really I'm glad you're telling me this because that could have been a big waste of money. Thanks but yeah I just googled it and it say it voids the camera warranty and might mess the camera up so I think I'm going to stay away from that. I think the only other way to get around it is to buy a recording device and sync the sound up the the video in post

I just bought a Cannon T2i in December and changed the firmware Magic Lantern. Once I got over the audio problems I've able to take some really nice video's.

@858Graphics I don't know much about the camera yet. I still have a lot of research to do but, what is Magic Latern actually do for the camera? And the qudio quality does sucks I'm thinking about getting a mic to put on my hot shoe

It is worth the risk, I got sick of lugging a laptop and audio equipment with me everywhere. The latest firmware is really easy to switch back. If I had a problem with my camera I would just install the original firmwareand send it in for a normal warranty repair.
