Capt Robao (Captain of the Kelvin) was Black..But that is beside the point..This show has people with blue skin, borg implants, multiple arms, ect...So, why is anyone race-counting?

Tyler Perry stole every scene he was in. I really cannot see another actor doing a better job in that role than he did. The character of this particular Admiral was also african american in Star Trek 4 (played by Brock Peters). So casting an african american wasn't an act of PR but being true to the previous material.

I'm not saying that people who disagreed are racist but when people point out a disparity I would think most people would want it corrected. I think this problem of race will soon be put behind us when open contact that I believe is within a few years will happen. People will then look more to each other as human than of race because of the security feeling, just like at times of war you are not worried if the guy next to you is the same color but if he can shoot straight & on your side

Agree with you totally, I also notice something else. As from the ratings above you have more in disagreement of your comments and I would bet that they are all white. I am not racist but I also know racism exist. I have notice a trend of whites who get angry when things of this nature are pointed out even the term reverse racism against whites.Yes, they should be more conscious of how they portrayed the academy, Asians, Indians,Africans,Europeans, aliens all the academy should not look white.

@Joeybsmooth True, I guess the way I worded that did contradict itself. I guess what I mean is that no company should hire somebody less qualified but a lot of companies are being pressured to do so. You're right that it doesn't make sense. I agree. Qualified people should be hired, not people of a certain race. I think we can both agree on that. But whether you are willing to accept it or not, a lot of businesses/universities/groups­... are being pressured to diversify.

@Joeybsmooth You didn't justify any of that. Minorities do have more power in the United States. Plus, people will hire a minority a lot of the time just to diversify their staff whether or not that person is more qualified.
