I wrote this song years ago, based on Isaiah 58, and have wanted to make a video for it for ages. Finally I got my act together. Hope you like it and that it challenges you.

Here's the verses I based it on:

Day after day, you worship him and seem eager to learn his teachings. You act like a nation that wants to do right by obeying his laws. You ask him about justice, and say you enjoy worshiping the LORD.
You wonder why the LORD pays no attention when you go without eating and act humble. But on those same days that you give up eating, you think only of yourselves and abuse your workers.
You even get angry and ready to fight. No wonder God won't listen to your prayers!
Do you think the LORD wants you to give up eating and to act as humble as a bent-over bush? Or to dress in sackcloth and sit in ashes? Is this really what he wants on a day of worship?
I'll tell you what it really means to worship the LORD. Remove the chains of prisoners who are chained unjustly. Free those who are abused!
Share your food with everyone who is hungry; share your home with the poor and homeless. Give clothes to those in need; don't turn away your relatives.
Then your light will shine like the dawning sun, and you will quickly be healed. Your honesty will protect you as you advance, and the glory of the LORD will defend you from behind.
When you beg the LORD for help, he will answer, "Here I am!" Don't mistreat others or falsely accuse them or say something cruel.
Give your food to the hungry and care for the homeless. Then your light will shine in the dark; your darkest hour will be like the noonday sun.

  • I tried to go to the download site, I live in an urban missionary community and have some friends that would really like this song. Is there a better link or keyword that I can search on the site.

  • @geigeroo Hi. All the links I provided should take you directly to the downloads. If you were looking on my blog site, that's not going to help - it's just blog posts. Click on 'Show more' in the video description and you will see the download sites for audio and video. I hope it works for you. Shirley

  • Our family is working in SE Asia with those in need. This song is just beautiful and a rather haunting reminder to why I am here. One line that I have listened to over and over that I still am unsure about. Are the lyrics saying "I want to stop worshiping You"? or "start worshiping You" @ 1:38 Thanks.

  • @agcoconut Yes, it's 'start', not 'stop'. Blame the Kiwi accent. Great to hear that you're working in SE Asia - that's where I was based for a few years as well.

  • How easy most of us have it in life. Look at all those who suffer and go hungry. God help us help them.

  • You correct Clerence. I read the comments they are almost all of them touched seemingly. But the million dollars question is it changing our worship, the worship with our eyes open facing the reality of being Christ like? To my experience is not until it hits the home. We are way to comfortable....
