It was Paul Martin who sent us to Afghanistan, at the request of our ally, the United States. Great Britain also went to Afghanistan, as did several other NATO countries. That's how alliances work.

Funny, comments like "Harper's economic policies are sound". So fucking funny. So the HST killing 20-25% economic productivity in Ontario and BC. Killing the housing market entirely, hundreds of thousands of jobs still not regained since 2008. Pumping millions of dollars into Tory held electoral districts because there's almost no oversight of the stimulus funding. Sure works out fine if you live in bum fuck Alberta or some other rural backwater.

@1hmm2 Alright, he's the leader of the conservatives, it's ridiculous to say that he is going in a 'forward direction', at least in the sense most reasonable people use. Can you point to his 'strong leadership'?

@SkInHoUnD Last time I checked Canada was still a free country where people are free to speak their mind. If you like communism so much then maybe it's YOU that should get the fuck out.

@dkaiii asshole!!!!
Your arguments are off-target. What does support for Western separatism have to do with any of this? The Conservative party is not a Western-separatist party. Period. The whole coalition crisis ordeal a year ago was based on giving separatists VETO power in the coalition government. That means that all of Canada is at the mercy to a Quebec separatist party. As an Asian-Canadian, I am PROUD to support STEPHEN HARPER for his strong leadership, economic management and forward direction.

Lies. There is no veto power for the separatists, that wasnt part of the deal with the coalition. I am sure you support Harper`s economic policy of making the rich richer and the poor poorer. Unfortuantely, asians are not known for human rights or democracy or social justice or equality. Shame on us.

Yes, there was. The Bloc would have officially held the balance of power by supporting the Coalition gov't. That means that anything the Bloc wanted, they could get. Btw, Harper's economic policy has been a sound one. Tell me, does billions of dollars for stimulus and EI spending, funding for social programs, and tax credits sound like making the "poor poorer"? Absolutely not. Harper is a balanced and moderate PM. Don't be a self-hating Asian ... that comment about Asians was off-the-point.

any small parties can have the potential to hold the balance of power in any minority situation, Coaltion government is nothing new in european countries, but that doesnt mean their government is ruled by extreamist minority. It's just typical fear mongering.

Canada is not a European country; we have different traditions and conventions.
While I would say that a coalition government *is* constitutionally valid in Canada, it is ethically bankrupt. Canadians soundly voted against Stephane Dion, yet he almost became Prime Minister. Not one Canadian voted for a coalition government -- in fact, the leaders rejected it during the campaign. Still, they were so desperate for power that they were willing to try anything. That doesn't sound very moral to me.

I see your point, but you can't say to me not one Canadian voted for a coalition government. I voted for the NDP, i perfer a coalition over any conservative govt.
