This documents a kayaking adventure deep into Everglades National Park in South Florida. The presenter and trip organizer Michael (MJ) Hudson and I registered at the Flamingo Ranger Station, turned on the GPS and started on our backcountry trip. We used two Hobie Mirage Outback kayaks that are perfect for this trip in skinny water, because the pedal drive leaves your hands free to fish, or in my case, to shoot video. We camped at a chickie which is a raised platform that had to be reserved at ranger central. We only went around in circles once, according to the GPS on the first day, but I think I was pretty well lost from the very beginning, and never regained a sense of direction until we were back at the road. Theres just something about landmarks that has really helped me out my whole life. I would still there, if not for the obligatory global positioning system.
