The Fender Super champ XD is a hybrid DSP/Tube combo amplifier. It's 15 Watts through a 10" Fender Special Design speaker. It uses a digital preamp, a 12AX7 phase inverter, into 2 6V6's run in class AB, with a diode rectifier. It has a clean channel, a 2nd channel with 16 digital preamp voices, and 16 effects.
This amp's clean channel stays clean all the way to 9 or 10. This amp was designed NOT for gradual tube breakup, but for well designed amp models to be "warmed up" by a tube power amp.

  • @enthnd03 Hey if you're looking at the AC15, have you thought about the C1 model as opposed to the CC1? You get two channels, normal & top boost, better spring reverb (so they say), still get trem, a Greenback speaker, and a tone cut.

  • @enthnd03

Seriously I don't think you can lose with any of those 3 amps. If I had to pick a favorite from those three I might say the AC15. The ac15 gets a fuller overdrive tone at low volumes and comes with a great speaker stock. With the blues jr you'd probably wanna get a better speaker sometime.

The Pro Jr is best for if you don't have to worry about volume. It's also not as versatile, but it does sound great on it's own.

i was just looking at a vox custom classic (15w) and the fender blues jr and pro jr.

  • @enthnd03

I got the vox night train when I sold the SCXD. I liked it a good bit. I later tried the Egnater Tweaker for a while and it's pretty cool. Try to check out the tweaker, it can do most of the stuff the SCXD can. Also, used Fender Blues Jrs can be cheap. They're pretty cool and way versatile.

shame....thanks a lot....been looking for a tube amp that won't break the bank left and right

  • @enthnd03

BOTH channels go through the digital signal processor. The initial tone shaping of the amp is digital, and so a distortion generally won't sound much better than throwing a pedal in front of a solid state amp. If you boost the level on the distortion pedal, then even the clean channel will start to clip in a harsh and unmusical way.

A lot of people think the first channel is all tube. It's definitely not.

  • @FuseG4

to my understanding this was a tube amp (well hybrid)......so even if i were to keep the amp on the 1st channel and plug in some pedals (yes distortion) it wouldn't give me well done sound...

  • @enthnd03

Depends on the pedal, but for the most part I hated how it acted with overdrives and distortions. Unless the volume knob on the pedal was way low, it would always end up making the digital circuitry clip in a really harsh way.

It was the number one reason I sold the amp. It's like you're stuck with either the preamp voices, or nothing.

I've been an "all tube" guy ever since.

  • by any chance do you know how well this amp interacts with pedals

  • @journeyquest1

    lol no
