February 2005 - Kangasala, Finland.
This was shot in the RoadRacers' rehearsing room in Kangasala, a town near Tampere, Finland.
The Roadracers are a cool rockabilly band based in Tampere and we had some good gigs together in 2005, and a lot of fun (and booze).
Here I was rehearsing with Iikku (fiddle bass) and Veke (drums).
The short story behind this...
The night before we were drinking in a pub in Tampere and we met this guy... he was a strange guy. A greaser, working as an american car mechanic, who had a denim jacket with a Chevrolet patch on the back, and I could see he used to dye his hair and sideburns black, as he was totally blonde but still wanted to look like Elvis Presley. That's why i think everybody called him Elvis...
Then almost out of the blue he started singing this song he said it was the finnish version of Hound Dog. It sounded so funny to me I had him writing the lyrics down on a piece of paper because I wanted to learn them and play the song... funny.
By the way, I know I still have that piece of paper somewhere, I kept it. I just don't want to mess everything up to find it so here are the lyrics... I think they're quite correct -I learnt them by heart and how can you forget such a song?
"sa olet vain vihikoira
sa haukut aina vain
sa olet vain vihikoira
sa haukut aina vain
sa et ole muuta kuin koira
haukut aina vain"
if anybody knows there are some mistakes please comment and let us know.
Or just write how do you like/dislike the video.
One last thing, thanks to the Roadracers for arranging things and for all the fun and the good company.
