To my knowledge, the only remaining shoot-style promotions still active are "U-style", "Battlarts", Fu-ten, and then some very small promotions. IGF does a bit of a mix from shoot-style to western style.. But I read that Battlarts would close doors by the end of the year, so Tamura's U-style promotion will be the only pure shoot-style leading organisation left. -_-
IDC WHAT ANYONE SAYS BUSHIDO COULD COME BACK BECAUSE THERE IS A HARDCORE FAN BASE OF MMA IT IS THE GRANDFATHER OF IT.... IF THIS WOULD BE ON TV THIS COULD SELLOUT SO MUCH IT WOULD KILL WWE OR TNA
@CombatSportFan I don't think it'll work with the real thing being so accessible with the UFC and all, and the remaining Pro Wrestling fans only wanting to see MOVES and such.
agreed, the one thing that really confuses me is how come Japanese fighters aren't nearly as successful in MMA as they were in shoot wrestling? There are very few jap mma fighters who are like really good, and its kinda said. would love to see suplexes such as those in bushido, they were simply spectacular
Personally I'd watch this as well as UFC in a heartbeat, even if this stuff is predetermined it's still way more realistic/believable than WWE. WWE has gone too far with the entertainment aspect.
Because they wouldn't be able to compete with UFC of DREAM, PANCRASE anymore. You have to place UWF, shoot-style wrestling in general, in a certain timeline. This style is pre-MMA. Shoot-style wrestling made the MMA possible. I won't say it's the only reason, but it did influence to create MMA on a very strong way. What is left of shoot-style for pro-wrestling is 1) a hardcore fanbase, and 2) the martial arts kicks and holds.
But anyway, I am, like you, one of those fans of the UWF-style.

I wish shoot style would make a comeback. I think if some American indy promoter did UWF or original Pancrase style matches it would get over huge.
