Part#2 This arrangement is a solo piano transcription of the Benny Goodman style version of Temptation Rag. Jim Hession and clarinetist Jack Maheu had recorded a duo version of this, that is still "sittin in the can" for George Buck's Audiophile Label. Hopefully it will be issued soon. Jack was at the height of his playing ability at the time of the recording in 2004. Katrina took it's toll on New Orleans musicians, and Jack is still recuperating from a 2006 stroke...This was filmed at the New Orleans Jazz Historical Museum in the Quarter on July 18,2007. The new news is that the Jack Maheu Quartet with Jim Hession is being produced as we speak and will be available on CD in the near future!

  • Simply awesome Jim! First heard you with Jack at Jazz-n-Caz fest in NY. You opened with one of my all time favorites "When Dreams Come True" (also posted)and later at one the jam sessions you and Jack ripped through "Temptation". Incredible! Hope that CD comes out soon. Jack has been and continues to be my hero. I know I'll be hearing my buddy again. It's great that you mention him in your writeup. Thanks again for another killer performance.

  • Thank you for the nice comments. Jack is simply the best! The three years we worked together was a joy! We are all pulling for Jack to make a complete recovery. He is back and living in the house he built in New Orleans. The CD "Blues My Naughty Sweetie Gives To Me" is in production as we speak.

Greetings. We have received more updated info that the Maheu Quartet album is in the pipeline and should be available in early-mid 'o8. It is being produced by Jazzology

Records and yes, George Buck is still alive and kicking. Our best to you during this holiday season.
