  • Oh don't worry guys, he loves it. He brings it to me all the time, all on his own just b/c he wants to play tug of war. He's play growling. He turned 10 years old last week!!

  • Dog looks slightly.....overweight.

    Or is it just old?

  • He was overweight. This is about 3 years old. He's since gone on a diet and has been a sleek 12 lbs for a couple years now. We call him the biggest loser!

  • Yeah he got fat for a while. Then he went down, paralyzed. Had surgery, rehab, is walking again....and has lost significant weight. He's the biggest loser!

  • ok ill bite, what the hill is that darn clicking noise?!

  • Heh, it's my crappy camera. I just shot this using the video feature on my digital camera, for some reason it adds that clicking.

  • Hey at least yours brings the toy back! I have to chase mine around the house. She doesn't really understand the concept of fetch very well.

  • My dachshund never growled when I played tug of war. But I would do it in a playful doggie way (making my own doggie sounds and on my knees - yeah I looked like an idiot playing with him) and likewise my dachshunds tail never stopped wagging. They were big happy wags too. I dont mean to cause offence but this dachshund seems half playing but also indeed serious about the toy being his, which is why he is growling. Maybe he is not so sure he is being played with as opposed to challenged. Just s

  • ATTN ANYONE WHO THINKS THIS IS BEING RUDE:

See that little tail wagging? He's having fun!

I own a dachshund and the first thing he does is try taunting me into trying to take his toy or an old sweater away. To dachshunds this is just a game. They love tug of war, and even though they growl, they're still just playing. It must be "part of the game" for them to growl.

  • My dachshund is exactly the same!!!!!

  • Ah yes. The "moo cow grunt" as we call it at my house. I have 2 mini, black and tan, smooth hair wieners. This is what they sound like when playing the blanket game (moving your hand under the blanket while they attack it! Ouch!)

  • STOP LADY ITS YOUR WIENER DOGS TOY LEAVE HIM ALONE!!!!!!!!!!

  • When I play fetch with my dachshund, he'll get it and run away with it. And if i try to grab it, he takes off again! It's hilarious :)

  • mine does the same thing but will stop half way and chew the toy to bits. I have to throw the toy then start walking to him cause i know he'll stop half way and start chewing the toy but when i reach him he jumps up and already starts running to where i always throw his toy, if i throw it somewhere else he gets confused then stops playing. he's 11 yrs old!!!
