Sufi Saint Festival in Egypt

The Egyptian equivalent of a cross between a town fair and a revival meeting with a ripping hot, down-home gospel act belting away all through the night. A mulid is part carnival, with colored lights and banners, party hats, food and souvenir vendors, and an air of family fun.

The Sufi musicians and poets represent some of the finest achievements of Arab and Muslim civilization. I think this event demonstrates this well, in so far as it brings a community together for a positive experience.
