@HermanniSan Plus I was confused, because the video is (supposedly) of Bill Gates crying, but the comment makes it sound like Steve was crying? Who is in gratitude to who?

@HermanniSan That's absolutely true... And I am almost finished the biography, it's great :)
But Steve made millions from Apple's initial success and IPO, not billions. Billions came later. And Microsoft's BASIC didn't exactly "make or break" Apple. They could have gotten someone else to do it, or Wozniak could have. Certainly it was a big deal, though.
Plus, the case could be made that Steve made made Bill rich as well, so the statement just struck me as one-sided and incomplete.

@ariw2003net He is at least partially correct. Apple was very vulnerable in it's first years and they needed Microsoft's support. Jobs didn't want anything other than MS Basic - it had floating point numbers which Woz's Integer Basic didn't have. But Steve Jobs could have become millionaire in many other technology sectors as well, because he was such a great entrepreneur. I recommend to read his biography.

@drpiddleton What? That's just not true.

@Geoff900 What are you talking about? NeXT was Steve's company. He started and funded the entire thing for years, long before Berners-Lee got involved.
And Xerox certainly invented the graphical user interface, but the Macintosh built on it in many ways that were later copied by others. For example, Apple invented the drag-and-drop concept that we take for granted.

The Korean people crying because of the death of Kim il Sung seemed phony but, this takes the cake.

@Problem7Network and dennis ritchie was 400% better then them both. Without him we would not have Windows Unix No C No programs, a large setback in computing, No generic-text languages and would all read in Binary.

Bill turned Steve into a multi billionaire and of the richest men in the world. I would be crying from gratitude as well.

Steve Ballmer is a goof.

Some pretty funny comments (and long ones) you guys like to criticize people that spent their lives building these companies. One guy isn't the man the other is, the other doesn't give enough to charity....etc have any of you had experience building a company and even know what the sacrifices these guys made just so you can hold that shiny little cheap, non computing gadget that you think sucks so much? Also stating Apple has no computing power is pretty funny, how do you think the websites we
@TheGamingBlockade You seem not to know much either...
GUI was invented by Xerox something which was later copied by every starting company, and major companies
Steve Jobs didn't invent NEXT either, a team of people working at Cern confronted him about something they where working on, one of these key people being Tim Berners Lee, one of the founders of the internet.
Steve Job's didn't create things, nor developed software he was just someone who knew if an idea was good or not.

@TheGamingBlockade The truth is, software is copied by everyone some way or another, it's very difficult to know who made what either in the world of business, and in reality does it matter either?
Apple and MS are businesses even if you don't agree with that statement, or not Apple just try to be 'cool' whereas MS they are just themselves.
